Have missed this conversation (voted early on) and wanted to add my observations.  Please note these are my own personal observations and they are not meant to bash anyone/group, they are just what I have noticed.

For the past 4 lockins, I have noticed a definite drop in the amount of food that is being brought.  But I have also noticed that when there are Magic tourneys the food "magically" disappears much faster.  So much so that the last time I brought food in, I did not get any of my own stuff and was only away from the food table for about 20 minutes setting up for SR.  I feel that the pricing is too low if you are going to include food with that price.  In addition, it you get it free (a $3.00 value for us adventurers, $5.00 for the rest) by bringing food, financially for us it make little sense to bring something that costs more than $5.00.  I know when Josh and I did the German night and brought pork and sauerkraut that meal alone was close to $25 to cover the cost of $6.00 in entry fees.

My solutions would be keep the $3.00/$5.00 entry fee and that gets you drinks.  If you want food, then maybe pay an additional $4.00/$5.00 for food access.  There are some logistics that would need to be solved such as how do you separate the payments and how do you distinguish those that have "food" tickets and those that don't.  Also would bringing food cancel all the fees or just the food fee?

And for those bulking at the "food fee", it would bring the total entrance fee to $7.00/$8.00 which is what was proposed to order food in.

The big problem with potlucks are that you have to make sure that there is enough food being brought in to feed the total number of participants.  And that is rarely reached anymore, even in church functions where food is a staple.

Maybe we drop the food idea all together and go with something else.  We already give out tickets for raffles/door prizes.  Why not raise the entrance fee to $5.00/$7.00 and then offer one or two "food" items from the snack area.  When you get it you get your raffle ticket punched and when it is punched you are done.  Or instead of the raffle tickets, provide an event ticket with the same idea.

Just a couple of thoughts and observations to help.
